A manufacturer of sprinkler systems used for fire protection in office buildings claims that the true average system is 130 degrees. A sample of n=16 systems, when tested, yields a sample average activation temperature of 133.5 degrees. If the distribution of activation times is normal with standard deviation of 1.5 degrees, test the hypothesis at significance level 'alpha'=0.05:

a) Find the acceptance region.

b) Compute the value of test statistic.

c) Make a decision.

    a) The acceptance region under the N(0,1) graph is -1.96<z<1.96 for a two sided alternative hypothesis of change in any direction or Z>1.645 for a one sided alternative hypothesis for change greater than the mean 130.

    b) [133.5-130]/(1.5/4)=9.3333

    c) Reject Ho in either case (ie. one sided or two sided test)
