Car battery replaced. Radio won't work?

I had my battery replaced for an 09 Cadillac Escalade from a local garage

After they did it, the radio/navigation went dead

Could this have been caused because they/I didn't turn the power off the radio before they removed and placed a new battery causing a shock of the radio/navi?

What are the best solitons to fix it, or should I go to the local GM dealership?

Update:

Thanks for the responses

The thing is, the power wont even turn on the radio/navi....I can't input any code if thats what you guys mean. Its a dead screen in front of me.

Update 2:

lol Soc!

My 6'5 body doesn't want to sit in anything else anymore...

Yeah you'll most likely have to take it to the Dealership, because that Escalade has On Star & navigation, and has to be reset.

You may have caused a dead short in your cars system. Will your car start or does it just emit a clicking noise like the battery is dead?If so your starter may have gone out. This can happen without any warning. If you can, get a friend to get under your car and Gently tap the starter while you turn the key.It may start or act like it wants to.This same thing happened to me and that's what my mechanic friend told me to try,and I ended up replacing my starter.Or if you can get it to Auto-Zone and they will do a FREE diagnostic check and tell you what the problem is .Reversing the polarity probably didn't help.but try this and good luck.Let me know if this helped.

sometimes a code is needed to reinstall the radio. this is a safe guard in case the radio is stolen. the dealer can do it for you

does the radio now display "LOC" - if so unless you wrote down your code you are hosed.

what are you Tony Saprono - with an Escalade
