I could have given you more customized solution had you at least stated which operating system you are using. However, I give you a solution that should work for any of the major OS platforms, and for most programs, except when high end graphics are required. Ok simply install virtualbox and then install what every operating system you what inside that.
Doing so, you have just created you own virtual computer inside you computer, thus you can do what ever you what with the virtual computer.
Another solution is to use knoppix, in combination with a flash drive to portable storage drive. Knoppix is an operating system that you can boot from the CD without changing your hard disk configuration. Downside is you will have to learn about Linux, which is actually a plus in my book.
Oh, I just thought of something else if you have a portable storage drive you can install the operating system of you choice on that and boot from that device. Or if you know how to install an operating system and modify you hard disk (which you can learn to do with Knoppix) you can install another operating system on the very same hard drive and just not use that operating system at all.
To summarize, if you have control of the BIOS you are not at the mercy of the currently install operating system you can change the computer configuration yourself.
