    hi mate

the geforce 8400gs is one of the most popular low profile cards however in terms of gaming it does not have the power needed for games like cod5.

low profile cards basically have a half size bracket on the card... the bracket is the part you attach to the case with a screw... however smaller cases ( small form factor cases) only have narrower pci slot brackets so thats why they designed with smaller brackets

heres a standard pci bracket ( http://www.phillipscomponents.net/uploads/PCI%20Br... ) and heres a low profile bracket ( http://www.computingsolutions.ca/catalog/images/Lo... )... and as you can see the low profile bracket is significantly smaller allowing it to fit in your smaller case

when you buy a low profile card it will normally be fitted with the standard bracket however you need to remove this and then fit the smaller bracket..... you can do this by removing the normal brackets bolts using a pair of pliers..... then once removed attatch the low profile brackets .... and you may also need to attatch another low profile bracket for the vga (d-sub) connector.... however once complete it should look like this ( http://www.hisdigital.com/UserFiles/product/200901... )( bottom left image)

all low profile cards work the same way and are constructed the same way... however again the geforce 8400gs is one of the slower low profile cards...and as long as you have a decent power supply (400w or above ) you could invest in one of these cards

    1) SPARKLE NVIDIA GTS 250 512MB DDR3 PCIE DVI/HDMI LOW PROFILE( http://www.outo.co.uk/epages/es116561.sf/?ObjectPa... ) ... the great thing about this particular card is its power and it only requires a 250w psu..... this also has a 256bit memory interface,600mhz core clock and 512mb of gddr3 memory running at 1800mhz ddr effective........this is around 4 times as powerful as the 8400gs....... well worth considering

    2) SPARKLE Nvidia GeForce 9800 GT 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP HDMI Low Profile Video Card Retail ( http://www.pcupgrade.co.uk/productdetails.asp?prod... ) another excellent low profile card and around the same in performance as the gts250( gts250 slightly better though ) ... this also has a 256bit memory interface,600mhz core clock and 512mb of gddr3 memory clocked at 1800mhz ddr effective... however this cards gpu is 65nm were as the gts250 is 55nm.... and the lower the nm(manufacturing process ) the more efficent the card is ( runs quieter and cooler )

there are other low profile cards such as the Sapphire HD5570 1GB DDR3 Graphics Card ( http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0037NYGM0/ref=asc_df_B... ) ... however i would stick with nvidia cards because of their physx and cuda support.... with physx being especially good in the latest games

i hope this has helped .. however any problems let me know

    good luck mate !
