Is this a sign of the changing times?
While surfing the internet I stumbled across an interesting site ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_congres... )...... TEXAS from 1845 to 1965 only had ten Republicans elected to Congress.....over 100 years of representation and almost everyone was a DEMOCRAT....
Today out of 32 districts.... only 9 are Democrat..... a HUGE shift in the way Texans think..... With 79% of America disappointed in President Obama's performance...... Do you think possibly that the nation is finally getting the word that Democrats do not have the answer...... that as compassionate as they are.... they are not equipped to solve problems and lead this nation forward
TIKI..... Not "babbling".....observing...... how is a "shift in the way Texans think" ....different than "social change' Republicans were pro-civil rights in the 60"s.... they are pro-civil rights today..... Republicans believed in self reliance and smaller government in the 60's.....just like they do today.... what has changed exactly in the Republican platform that has attracted Texan voters away from the Democrats
RICKY.... Todays Republicans were the "Democrats" of 1845.....You mean todays Democrats support slavery??? You mean the political party....the Republicans ...who forced through Congress the civil rights bill of 1964....fighting the Democrats all the way are now against civil rights....you mean the political party that NEVER had a Grand Dragon of the Klu Klux Klan in its ranks now supports that organization (the last Democrat KKK member in Congress just died last year).... where do you get this BS
FRIED KITTEN....Where in your rant did you answer the question.... While Bush was not my favorite President....He did a good job (The financial crisis was a Democrat creation....had nothing to do with Bush).... as to Bush's performance....from 2003 to 2008 no American civilians anywhere in the world were the target of a terrorist attack....that is after we averaged one attack every month for 30 years.... Since President Obama took office we have had four terrorist attacks..... and a lot more warning on each of them than Bush got on 911... You still have not addressed the basic question....but that is typical of liberals..... you rant but you do not answer

You are so wrong. It is not a shift in the way people think. It's a shift due to social changes in the 60's. It occurred all over the south. Bone up on your history before you start babbling.

You ask the following question:
“Do you think possibly that the nation is finally getting the
word that Democrats do not have the answer?”
----
The answer is that Americans don’t “finally get anything”.
Every generation produces its share of idiots.
Not only did Americans vote for a republican President
after a superb 8-year run by Bill Clinton but then they
actually gave George W. Bush a second term after his
first four years of misery.
Congratulations America for bringing in a republican
majority starting January 1, 2011 which republicans are
‘concerned about the national debt’ but who are giving away
around $700B to the wealthy in tax breaks and estate tax reform.
Is the nation finally getting the word?
You tell me. I haven’t read one post in which anybody has
specifically outlined what Obama’s opponent, John McCain,
would have done any better if he had won the election. Let’s
be real here; McCain would not have done anything better
because we were in too deep of a hole do come out of it quickly.
Maybe you will have your way in 2012.
Mitt Romney may become President.
Remember one of his quotes in respect to sky-rocketing health
costs: “I think the pharmaceuticals are doing a wonderful job.”
---
‘Republicans are concerned about the national debt.’
Ha ha – what a joke. And suckers like you buy it.
Can I sell you a bridge [to nowhere]?

Bush did, indeed, start the financial crisis before the housing market crashed.
You are too unknowledgeable to know this but I will bring it to your attention.
You are about to learn something today.
In 2001 Bush ordered the FERC to deregulate electricity. Electricity pricing
sky-rocketed immediately. Oil re-sellers now had the green light to raise the
price of oil through the roof because the regulated alternative of electric
power was now a thing of the past.
High energy prices, such as gas at the pump sky-rocketing from $1.15 during
Clinton up to $3.69 during the Bush years, made Americans less willing to
spend on other items. The consumer market entered its downward spiral.
The collapse of the housing market (2005-2006) was the straw that broke the
camel’s back. (You know, the collapse that occurred during Bush).
I know that you are too ignorant to know things like FERC. I’ll bet you don’t
even know what it stands for. You are just as naïve as democrats who also
support their leaders without requiring too much knowledge. You have been
exposed big guy. Congratulations.

I got a laugh from your comment about how American civilians were not
terrorist targets between 2003 and 2008. Is there a reason for which you
neglected to cite that the most large terrorist attack upon American civilians
ever, occurred in 2001 during George W. Bush? Uhm you know, he was
President at that time.

It is laughable that you are such a hypocrite and that you convince yourself
that you are just and even knowledgeable. You are a joke.
Do some research and then act smart.

Yes, many Democrats are waking up to the truth but most (who are rather ignorant politically usually) have not caught on yet.
It is so good that 63 new Conservative Republicans have taken seats in Congress. We still have a problem in the Senate with Reid there but he's acting like he'll compromise because he worried about the House. Says he'll tweak the ObamaCare, but you can't tell what they might do. Obama is not giving in for anything. He'd rather die I guess. So brainwashed by the Muslims when he was just a child that it did too much damage to his mind.

The Democrats have used the past 60+ years to do nothing more than install a communist regime into America - through indoctrination in our schools, colleges, media, and now it is coming to a head. Have you ever really looked at all the laws, treaty's, subsides to realize how wealthy not only in money but time & family we would all be if it were not for congress and all their "laws", their entitlements?! Really - do something for yourself and AMERICA -Research it - look open minded at history(all, not just what they teach or promote in the media)* ( *It will depress and scare the HE&% out of you). Good luck and I hope you will join me in trying (picture someone beating head against wall) to help educate people in what is Really going on. We truly are fighting communism in this country whether we would like to admit it or not.
P.S. I can only hope this is a sign of people "waking up" or coming out from "underneath the wool".
Peace!!! - But if they win there will be little of that.

I live in Texas and 90% of the people I know are republicans. In this state, even though we have a lot illegals, you have to have a drivers license to show that you are a citizen. You cannot get a drivers license without being finger printed so I don't think its so easy to get one.
We like the state of our economy and will continue to support the republicans.

In 1845, the Democrats were more like the modern day Republicans and vice versa. Democrats were socially conservative and tended to favor less government control with more power to the people. So, no, Texas is the same, the parties just switched roles.
