Is "Van Nuys High School" a all-magnet school?
My parents (against my will, let me tell you that) applied me to SOCES High for next year. Since it's a all-magnet school and everything, there's a 50-50 chance I won't get in. So if I don't get a chance, I want to go to Van Nuys. So I want to know if it's a all magnet school. I know there's three magnet programs, but do they also have regular school? Not ESL, just regular?

I applied my daughter to Van Nuys Math/Science Magnet for next year and am praying she gets in. I am not worried if she won't, because then I will apply to it either by open enrollment or SAS permit. So it is not an all magnet school. In fact nonmagnet students are allowed to take classes like AP and honors with the magnet students. Call the school and ask when is their next tour for open enrollment or SAS to get more information. You can also check out the website www.vannuyshs.org. We are from India, hope you will be in the same classes as my daughter. If you don't get in SOCES, contact Van Nuys Magnet asap and they will put you on their magnet waiting list. At the tour, they told us that if you really want to get in, you need to tell them that.
