What would be the possible solutions for a car engine thats is idleing at 4000 rpms after initial Start up?
2001 gmc jimmy thats just started revving at 4000 rpms today. Also, after normal drive the Rpms go back to normal, but at a stop light ,the truck revs up to 35- 40 mph and truck speed has to be controlled with brakes...

throttle position sensor may be faulty or throttle body needs to be cleaned with special spray cleaner available at any auto parts store. follow instructions on the can.
