Or do you think that only by busing a child across town will afford that child a better education?

In a large city, there are advantages in some schools. New schools are more high tech. Schools that have the lower income kids don't attract the better teachers. Schools with a majority of lower income students are usually a majority of lower performers. There are several schools here that are considered too small for a full time principal or nurse. Hence, two schools will share these people.

If you are asking about busing because school want to mix it up, there are advantages there. Sometimes, groups are broken up and this reduces violence. Sometimes, by mixing the colors and cultures, more violence happens.

For a student to succeed, the most important ingredient is parental support. In this day and time, our children are facing problems of broken homes and parents that work two jobs. Kids that are encouraged and given assistance at home do better.
