Its all about the products you use.
There is of course the obvious one, use a good conditioner. Some good store brand ones are:
Herbal Essences Hello Hydration; it also has an amazing coconut scent.
Tresseme; choose according to your hair type.
Dove. Again choose according to your hair type. If you use a lot of heat use their heat one. It's amazing.
I also would recommend using a deep conditioner once in awhile. One you can use quite frequently is Aussie 3 Minute Miracle. It works as if its just a really good conditioner. It also has an amazing scent. It makes your hair soft and luscious.
I would also recommend using a hair mask ever two weeks.
Two good hair masks for regular hair are Neutrogena; it comes in a short white tub and it lasts a long while since you only have to use a little bit. There is also Loreal Sulfate free hair mask. I'm using the one for colour treated hair right now and it works amazing.
Though I haven't tried it, I've heard great things about the Moroccan Oil Hair Mask. It's a salon brand.
Also, there are really amazing leave in treatments.
There is Neutrogena's leave in treatment(same line as the hair mask!) It has an SPF protector and really makes your hair smooth while protecting it.
Though my favorite is the Moroccan Oil leave in treatment. It's absolutely fabulous! It makes your hair easy to style and though it's oil it doesn't leave your hair greasy at all. You just use a dime sized amount and spread through wet hair, concentrating on the ends. It's a salon brand.
If you want a quick fix that you can use on dry hair I would recommend Got2B Smoothing Luster Lotion.
EDIT: If you use heat use a proper protectant since it damages your hair. Got2B has there Guardian Angel series which works pretty great.
Don't over shampoo. Shampoo ever second day and use a cleansing shampoo once in awhile to get rid of build up.
Also, some say switching to a silk pillow case helps since it's less abrasive on your hair.

Well This What Really Helps
STAY AWAY FROM HEAT!
I would narrow it down to prolly once or twice every week or every two weeks
Also Get a Hot Oil Treatment.
Everytime I get one My Hair Grows pretty Long and it Repairs your hair
I Think Olive Oil is best to you.
Or You Can Put It In Your Hair Before you go to sleep at night
And Wash It Out In the Morning.
Also I hear Mane N Tail Works REALLY Well.
Imma try it soon :)
Also Beware Of Shampoo.
Shampoo has ingredients used in detergient.
And It drys out hair
Stick to Washing Hair Once With Shampoo and LOTS
Of Conditioner.
Also for healthy Hair.Cut Your Split Ends.
Your Hair Will Thank You For It.
About Every 6-8 Weeks Is Good
Gives Your Hair Time To grow.
And Dont Wash your hair every week.
It Can dry out hair and stop it from growing.
Every two weeks is fine
But If your hair is oily maybe once a week is good.
I think thats about it.Hope I helped!

Use the hello hydration shampoo and conditioner by herbal essence. It has a cocunut scent so be careful if you're sensitive. Also cut off your split ends, they're weighing your hair down. You'll never get healthy hair with split ends!(:

Don't over wash your hair with shampoo & I bought this hair product, from target, called BEDHEAD and it's in a bright hot pink bottle. It makes your hair really shiny and soft, it made my hair really healthy!

try leave in conditioner, or if money's not a problem get chi silk infusion or biosilk silk therapy. it will make your hair really soft but the smallest sizes of those run around $11-12. you can definitely get it to be soft, but once its damaged its for good until you chop it off.
