Can a 275W power supply handle a Geforce 9800 GT?

I ordered a used Dell XPS 210, but it has crappy onboard graphics that hardly run any of the latest games. It does have an empty PCI Express slot though. I found a half height Geforce 9800 GT that should fit in this little computer, but my only concern is that it only has a 275w power supply. This computer doesn't have any power hungry components though and hardly uses 100w with my current configuration. So can I use this card or is something bad going to happen?

Update:

Does anyone know of a better power supply that will fit this computer? It won't except standard size power supplies unless there is some way of modding it to.

Update 2:

I think I found a solution. There are dedicated power supplies for video cards that will fit in a floppy drive bay.

That's not enough power for that card and would lead to problems. You can get a 500 watt power supply for less than a hundred. You just need to find one that will fit. I'm sure you can contact dell or one of the online sellers and get the information you need.

Personally, I'd opt for the Radeon HD 5570. It is also a low profile card, but has almost the same graphics power as the 9800 GT but uses much less electricity to get there (43W vs 70W)

If you are looking at a low profile 9800 GT that requires a 6-pin PCIe power connector, then absolutely forget about it. You cannot run a 100W card off a 275W power supply without severe risk of overload. Video cards want mostly 12V power, and that 275W psu is probably rated for only 150W @ 12V at most. That doesn't leave enough extra juice for the other components.

Be careful, it' not of power to play with. CD or DVD burning will probably take up juice too. I'm not certain whether you'll have problems, but you have the right power consumption methodology. Good luck!
