1995 maxima gxe 5spd Hard start?

1995 Nissan Maxima GXE 6Cyl3.0L - Engine

Hard start , Tach will read higher when cranking

problem started after a tranny swap. Hard to start, esp when cold. sounds out of ingition time , backfire and exhaust popping. will stall when you attempt to start only at idle. tends once running even when completely warm to idle around 1500 to 2000 rpm for about 30 seconds. ofter that runs like a champ. this is a manual tranny and the vehicle has some mods like a cold air intake, and tube headers , with HP 2.5" cat and piping thereaftere,

I am a tech and Im good but this is pissn me off, as Ive been chasing grounds and checking cotinuity for all the cps(ref) Phase and pos sensors. All are new by the way. all the wiring seems to check out. Ive been told that a ground between the tranny and block may be corroded and causing a bad ground so I instead of taking out the tranny and cleaning it I thought I would run some 8 ga. wire and grounded everything engine to tranny, tranny to chassis exhaust to chassis engine to chassis and chassis to negative. this did stop the tach from bouncing around it would go as high as 2k when just cranking around. I have checked fuel pressure and it is about 38 psi when cranking and then at idle is about 35 and as engine rpm increase it will peak at 45 psi. This car has been driving me nuts. please only ppl that have fixed this problem should answer this question as I have asked even better techs then me and been left waisting time on this . there is a fix , it is a common problem , but no one ever posts it.. give it up please, I love this car and I love beating the piss out of it but this is becoming embarising me . there is a u tube of a simiular car doing exactly this. This problem is electrical if you push the car without cranking it and pop the clutch its starts right up mint a 1 mph roll will do it but the starter is somehow killing the computers mmory and its getting confuesed as to where # 1 fire is . Im lost. please tell me I can just pull the tranny and clean up the mating surface for nothing more than my time. I thank you in advance if you need moe info please feel freee to email me at dadaudio@yahoo.com

all parts are carquest and new ...

battery , alternator, o2 sensors, crankshaft (pos, ref) camshaft the only one, bank 1 (phase)coolant temp sensor(computer) the maf sensor is reading about .51-.52 lbs/m at 700 rpm idle this car runs perf.once sad to say finally running

Have seen this before but don't remember what it was? (so long ago) do you have a 8 tooth or the 10 tooth updated starter motor? I believe this may be where the problem lies by what you say about the tach. jumping around. (I didn't see the starter in the C.Q. parts list) The denso starter actually has 11 teeth! Monitor the positive counts pid it should be in the 180 + range. If they are any lower, the ECM may not understand the cranking speed! You virtually eliminated the bellhousing to block issue by adding grounds. Are you sure that the start signal fuse is not missing, has good connection in fuse holder and is not blown? (I am shooting things past you) Oh one other thing is to check the harness by the strut tower per the TSB for rub through!

Check the clutch switch and wiring, and neutral switch. The computer probably uses these switches as inputs during the starting sequence. Are there any other wires that might have stretched during transmission removal ? Check any connectors that might have come apart.
