Plastic kettles are cheap, you can get a new one for £6 from Tesco.

If you really want to descale one and do not want to pay for the chemicals then use some white wine vinegar. You will need to boil it a few times with water after to get rid of the vinegar smell and taste.

I have the same kettle in Black, just checked and mine is stainless steel inside! If yours is plastic I can not understand why you paid that much for it!

never use plastic to cook it holds odors of food and it's hard to keep sanitary, it deteriorates after while. It also is harder to clean, heat makes plastic deteriorate over time.
