Why do askers post links?
I don't follow links on YA because I would rather just read a straightforward question.
Why do askers post them and how many of you follow the links?

Links are posted for several reasons: spammers, of course; a source (to show the info you posted was taken from someplace, otherwise you can get dinged for plagiarism) and additional information.
If a person asks a complex question, it is easier to post a short & sweet answer - and a LINK to where they can get complete information, rather than posting paragraph after paragraph of words and words they won't read anyway.
I'll follow links if (a) I recognize the link source as legitimate and/or (b) I see that the poster is somebody that has been around, knows their stuff, and is basically trustworthy. Of course, I've got a GREAT firewall and antivirus program, so if I DO make a mistake - they take care of saving me from disaster!
