Its probably the window bracket (holds up the window and transfers power from the motor to the window using a sort of scissor movement.) Sometimes its just a matter of re-gluing the bracket to the window or u may have to change the whole bracket if that doesn't work. take it to you mechanic. but be careful if they tell u there anything wrong with the motor or the switch. seeing that u can still hear the mechanism going up and down the most probable cause is the window bracket.

in the meantime to raise it u can try pulling up the window with one hand while pushing the switch on the other. when it comes up a bit then put ur hand on the window then push slowly in an upward motion while the hand is still on the switch. when its up all the way then let go of the switch. That will keep the window up until u can get to a mechanic. If that doesn't work then that means that the window has completely slipped off the bracket and ur should see a mechanic a.s.a.p. a window that down all the time can cause all kinds of trouble.Hope that helps

Haha, i had the same problem and on the passenger side of my car. Well open it up from inside i am pretty sure it is the steel wire. it must have been disconnected because i heard the noise too when i tried to roll the window up but nothing happened. what i did was order a new one. I dont know the name but if you go to a car parts store like advanced auto parts they will tell you and even get you 1 in 2 days. it is really simple to install, just remember dont brake anything while opening it(which i did) it is really easy to screw things up lol

    i hope i helped

The regulator, the unit that allows the window to roll up straight and even has probably broken. They are usually put together with pop-rivets. Any auto glass repair shop can fix it for you. The parts aren't that expensive.

I would go to SafeLite Autoglass. You can find them in the yellow pages under auto glass.

I trust their work and their prices.

sounds like it came off track. the door panel is held on by a few hidden screws and a bunch of clips. pull the panel and you should be able to see your problem
