How is Providence in a BCS conference without a football team, I though that was the whole point of "BCS"

BCS conference is just a term used in all/most college sports to describe the major sports conferences: Big East, Big 10, Big 12, SEC, ACC, and Pac 10. It is easier to say/write BCS rather than major sports conference.
So because Providence plays in one of the major sports conferences it would be considered to be in a BCS conference.
