How do I make these cookies softer?
I have a Brown Sugar Cookie recipe that is a family recipe handed down recipe that we make every Christmas. It has brown sugar, spry, flour, cherries, raisins, nuts eggs etc. These cookies are kind of "hard" they are not a soft and chewy cookie the kind that is good to dip in coffee, not quite like a biscotti texture but a little on the hard side. What can I do to make them a little softer?

Add a tablespoon or two of orange juice or apple juice. Or cook them a minute or two less than the recipe says--they'll still cook, but be a little softer.

Make them as is, put them in a tupperware container with a small piece of bread and leave it covered overnight. The bigger the piece of bread the softer they will be.

if the recipe calls for butter make sure you use real butter old family recipes don't usually call for butter spread. that could really make a difference.
