Indie/pop songs about war?

(preferably 1st World War). I'm doing an English presentation on Wilfred Owen as a speaking and listening and I need a song for my 'creative piece'. I would like a song which is about war but not a 'war song' and not one which uses war as a metaphor for love or relationships, it can be but only if this is not mentioned in the song. The only song I am considering at the moment is 'Never Let Go' by Bryan Adams, any suggestions would be much appreciated and tell me your thoughts on the one I have at the moment. Thanks :)

Well, if it is on Wilfred Owen, I'm sure you are including his very famous poem Dulce et Decorum est. This is one of my favorites. As for songs, my personal favorite war songs are Sunday Bloody Sunday by U2 which is not about WWI, rather the Irish Republic. Great song. There is also Goodnight Saigon by Billy Joel about the Vietnam War. (also one of my favorites). The following is a link to a site of world war one songs. The best one is probably the one about the Gallipoli campaign when the British and French tried attacking the Ottomans in Gallipoli to capture the Dardinelles and Bosporus straights. The song is called "Old Gallipoli's A Wonderful Place". http://www.ww1photos.com/WW1MusicIndex.html

Check out John Lennon too. He was a big peace advocate and sang some weird songs like give peace a chance. One of his better war songs was Happy Xmas (the war is over). I like that one too.

    Well I hope I helped.
