Really Fast Dual Cores vs Fast Quad Cores?
I'm choosing between a 3.2 ghz Dual Core, and a 2.5ghz Quad core. I'm interested in gaming, sometimes on some very intensive games (crysis, whatever else). Which do you folks recommend?
Aaaaa.... Indecision!!
If it helps, I'm running on XP.

You have to state the frequency of each. Its the number usually somewhere between 2.3GHz and 3.8GHz. The quad AMD should be faster, but it depends on what you are doing. Some programs only take advantage of 1 core, so you want a faster frequency, but if it takes advantage of, say, 4 cores, the frequency can be 1/4 as slow and still be the same overall speed. Research a little more and you will figure it out.

Currently most programs use a single core, so the slower quad core will be slower. In the future? The quad core may be a bit faster (the clock is a lot slower).

I recommend quad core. More games are using more than 2 cores.

Hello!
It sounds like quad core is faster, but it isn't. Go for the dual cores. They're better for gaming and programs etc. Good luck! :)
