If your talking about the corrosion protectors such as felt washers or BATTERY GREASE. then yes when applied properly. 1. FELT WASHERS ONLY work if they stay wet with Dielectric and or water resistant grease. NEVER LET THEM GO ON DRY 2. Battery grease in general will not work if you all ready have corrosion problems and you don't eliminate all the build up. (CLEAN THE TERMINALS AND CABLE ENDS!)

Try using a wire brush or and actual battery terminal cleaning brush, ROUND TOOL WITH TWO BUILT IN BRUSHES, one slides over the terminal the other slides up in the cable end.

NEVER use SODA or Soft drinks to eliminate the corrosion, it helps at first but it comes back twice as bad later. if the corrosion is to bad you local auto parts store can sell you a can of battery acid eliminator it eats the corrosion and dissipated and battery acid. it comes in a spray can and turns from yellow to pink when its working.

p.s. Always wear Gloves and safety goggles when messing with batteries, and remember to eliminate any arcing by disconnecting the battery when cleaning it. GOOD LUCK HOPE I WAS SOME HELP

If you already have corrosion on the terminals remove the cables from the battery and clean them with a wire brush. After reconnecting the cables wipe a little bearing grease over the cable ends and terminals. That will keep them from ever corroding.I just replaced the battery on my pick up.It was 8 yrs old.The cable ends and terminals were still as clean as the day I put that battery in 8 yrs ago.

As a battery ages it tends to start emitting acid vapor. The corrosion protecting disks actually can prevent some of the initial damage to the battery terminals, but the only work for a limited time. Once you start seeing corrosion on the terminals, have your battery tested frequently.
