I think wing chun is one of the better arts for any kind of empty hand fighting. It does not have all the answers and it will not turn you into Superman. However, it is worth studying. This message board, from what I have read, is mostly populated by MMA fans and practitioners, and those folks will tell you that MMA precludes wing chun because wing chun never works in MMA. I will tell you that I have been disappointed in the performance of wing chun guys in full contact. But, those guys were not in shape and had no jujitsu. If they were in shape and had BJJ black belts and good muay thai, they would have done okay. My advice is that you should be willling to give wing chun a go even if many people tell you it sucks. For a street fight, wing chun has tricks. A street fight lasts only a few seconds, unlike a normal MMA fight, and the speed of wing chun is a great help. And even if you do not fight with wing chun, wing chun develops ATTRIBUTES that are great for the street. The great Bruce Lee gave up on wing chun techniques but he still had the attributes of a skilled wing chun man to go along with his strength, speed, power, and timing.
