Which book should I read in the Bartimaeus Series first?

The Amulet of Samarkand

or The Ring of Solomon (presequal to Amulet?) I own Amulet and have gotten Ring from the library but can only have it for three weeks with out renewal. I've read the whole trilogy twice but can't remember really anything about the world that Stroud created.

Isn't Amulet of Samarkand the first one? It's the only one I've read. Usually it's a good idea to read books in the order they were written, even if there are prequels, since that usually follows the author's world-building better and is less likely to confuse you. It depends on the series though.

    Bartimaeus Series

  • Well, seeing as you've gotten The Ring of Solomon out already, I suppose you should read that.

But to be honest, I think reading The Amulet of Samarkand would be best. It is what Jonothan Stroud intended, after all.
