What are some different, usefull, tips for learning french?
More specifically, what are some worth while sources in french, from any idiom, that could help improve my French i.e. children's book/easy to read novels, tv shows, movies, text books, and etc. Also, any recommendations for sources regarding French culture, customs, and history would be most appreciated as well. If you know study tips that are useful in preparing for a college level french exam would be good.
Finally- I know I just keep enlarging the list as I go- any french learning websites too. Thanks!

Dorothèe et ses amis was a french kids show, look it up on youtube. I like instant emersion french software, you can get it for around $40, and it's just as good as rosetta stone. I also lovveeee Berlitz books. Try having a french penpal, watching movies in french with or without subtitles, and just be passionate about learning the language. Having the drive and loving the language will help you learn it much faster.

Hi Steven,
From my personal experience, I've found that you could learn a lot from online resources whether free or paid. I'll share some resources with you that are provided by French101.me which I found great for learning the French language online.
First of all, I'd recommend watching the videos they provide for free on youtube at
http://www.youtube.com/french101dotme
You can watch one video a day and try to memorize as much words as you can. In the same time you can learn a new French word daily by installing their Facebook application which can be found at
http://apps.facebook.com/dailyfrenchword/
If you find yourself comfortable with the language, you could get their Language related e-books from
and finally, if you're willing to get further into learning the language there's no better than joining their paid membership site at
as it'll help you keep track of the words you're learning as you proceed.
Hope it helps you!
