First of all, don't buy Skullcandy. The headphones break very easily, are low quality and sound like vibrating mud is being injected into your ears. The price is ridiculous for what you get. They look kinda cool, but thats it. I don't know what music you like, but I'll give you some ideas. If you say what sort you like, I can get some better recommendations.

Sennheiser make excellent headphones, but don't buy the more expensive models unless you are a jazz fan or something similar, cause you will regret it.

If you're a bass whore, eg Hip-Hop or Club, I would recommend something from the Ultrasone Hfi line, they are pretty good, although they are a bit uncomfortable. Either that or the Sennheiser HD-25 II, which is good for that. Also look at the Audio Technica M50.

If you're a metal fan, look into the Grado brand, they are excellent for that, although the comfort isn't all that great either.

For something that's fairly balanced, look at the AKG K 240 MK II, for home use, or DENON AH-D1100 for something that's a little more portable. Sennehiser PX-100 are excellent portables for the low price, highly recomended.

I personally use the AKG K 240 MK II, it's excellent for all music types.

Not all of these have user replaceable cords unfortunately, most of those models are only in full size, that are more aimed at studio monitoring.

First off, I own several pairs of headphones, both in ear and over ear, and the iBeats are above and beyond anything I've used. The first step was finding the right fit (of the 7 tips included, I found 2 that fit perfectly, one regular mold, and the other the "Airlock" style). The standard tips are a snug fit, and allow the bass to hit fairly hard. I have a pair of Koss in ear headphones, and the Bass does hit harder, but the iBeats bass is much cleaner. The "Airlock" style tips fit snug as well, and I found that while in my ears, they were comfortable, but after long periods of wear, after removing them there was some slight pain. I also own a pair of Skullcandy Hesh over ears, and the iBeats again sound better than the Skullcandies. While I would recommend the Hesh to anyone on a budget looking for good sound for your money, I would recommend iBeats as well to anyone that can afford them. The ControlTalk feature is nice for the iBeats as well, and I've had no complaints from anyone on the other end of my phone. If I had one complaint it would have to be that the ControlTalk on cable volume and music control feature does not work on the iPhone 3G, but I recently upgraded to the iPhone 4 and cannot complain about that now. The thing I can't give enough praise about is the noise cancellation. iBeats block out almost all outside sound, and you dont have to jack the volume up extremely high to do it. Simply put, it is excellent. All in all, these are the best sounding ear buds I've ever heard, and I would not hesitate to recommend them to friend or family.
