Death Note age rating (Anime)?

oh my god...so i hope i don't accidentally ruin anything which i'll be careful not too so i promise this answer will be 100% safe. But make sure you avoid any youtube comments, amvs, other random comments on other questions and take caution when reading other people's answers (even mine...but i'm going to make sure it's safe to read) because i had some spoilers for me when i was watching the anime and it completely ruined it.

so you already know that death note is basically revolved around a notebook that can kill people when writing people's names in it (duh) and light decides to take actions in his own hands.

well, basically i'm guessing the reason why its rated 17 and older is because of all the killing. although its not really inappropriate and stuff, it's a little more directed to an older audience. i don't think little kids want to be imagining Ryuk in their dreams...they'd be too young to understand that he's really not all that scary =P but yeah. and it's also kind of complex in its own ways.

other than that...really i think the rating should be lower. but there are people who are very careful with what they watch...they try to avoid animes that have minimal swearing, minimal violence and stuff like that so that's probably why its rated like that.

i'm only guessing though.

but like i said...be very cautious reading other answers and comments on other sites. there are some dipsh!ts out there that like to ruin stuff for everyone :(

Death Note Rating

It has violence and death lots of death of course and it has an adult theme a little (i'm not good at explaining) and it shows some underwear a bit but its nothing too bad its only in a few episodes and i don't remember there being bad language but there might be a few words. But if your not sensitive to death and stuff then Death Note is pretty much 13+ and on the manga it says 16+ so if your older than 13 it should be fine to watch. But that's just my opinion on the rating. Don't let 17+ stop you from watching Death Note! It was my first anime/manga and its awesome! Death Note is my favorite!

Make up your mind. Are you talking about the anime or the manga? Comic books are not anime. Anime is, by definition, animated material. I wouldn't recommend the Death Note anime for anyone under about 15 or 16. Not only does it have dark themes and some graphic violence in places, but in order to get the most out of it, the viewer needs to be mentally mature and sharp enough to understand all the intricate plans, secrets and whatnot. I'm not familiar with the manga, but I suspect the target demographic is similar.

I hope I don't ruin it for you cause death note is DA BOMB!!! but there is a lot of violence death and some partial nudity. However it shouldn't be 17+. It doesn't get that bad. Family guy has more drugs sex violence and nudity and that's 14+ if I remember correctly. I hope you enjoy death note cuz it is really awesome and again I hope i'm not ruining it but the end is a doosie. I'm still shook up about it.

why is the anime rating 17+ on a website I will not specify due to Yahoo!® Answers' rules. Nudity? Violence? Language? I am so far at episode ten and have not seen much if any of this at all. Also, please don't spoil it for me; it's getting good.

no nudity, a bit of blood, but not much, some violence. Its mainly because of the topic (killing people with the deathnote) that it gets such a high rating, but its not graphic or anything, i read it when i was 13 and i wasn't scared, or grossed out

I Watched it when i was 12.. You dont really need to be too old for this because, you dont see that much blood its just him writing names down

I'm guessing violence, sexual themes, adult themes, and blood.
