Why is the first answer always the funniest?

Have you noticed that often times the first answer to a question of Y!A is cheeky and funny. Why is this?

Brian Stubs, I was hoping for something wittier for the first answer but I guess that works

    Maybe they want quick points.

    Because they really want points. To get to level 2, or other levels.

    Or maybe they want to fool around.

    Maybe because later answers are influenced by what's already there.
