You need to see a doctor before things escalate to a hospital visit!!!!!

If it's all you have take it until you can get to the hospital or doctor.

OK let's look at the real research here.

Short and sweet: If your life depends on the medication, such as insulin or heart meds, don't rely on expired medication. Otherwise, you're probably safe to take expired medication.

Long story: The expiration date is the latest date the pharmacuetical company can guarantee 100% effectiveness. However, most of the time the date on the bottle is very very conservative. Most meds are very effective 2, 5, even 10 years after the "expiration" date. There have been many studies done on this subject and ALL of them have shown that medications break down slowly over time and the byproducts of break down are harmless.

The link below includes a summary of research done by the United States government that found that most drugs retained substantial potency even after 15 years.

It's very unlikely that you will die or get sick from taking expired medications. The worst thing that could happen is that they won't work!

Don't use your asthma med as it is really old. Call your primary health care provider and ask for a new script. In the meantime, you can use caffeine. Strong coffee or a caffeine energy drink can help. Caffeine is a mild bronchodilator. BE CAREFUL, not to take too much. To much caffeine can make your heart beat too fast. If you have any cold medication that is an antihistamine, you can take a dose of that. Examples are Benadryl, Claritin, Loratadine, Alavert and Zyrtec.

If you feel like you can not go any farther, cant breathe or something, Go to the hospital Emergency Department (ED) as soon as possible.

    Good luck

I feel your pain. I've had asthma for 14 years now and have seen several doctors. The truth is, there is no known cure for asthma at the moment. But the symptoms can be prevented. It really depends on what causes your brother's asthma. Mine is usually dust and hot weather. But I think the universal method is using the control inhaler.

I cured my Asthma the natural way?

Take an antihistamine, call you docs to have them put in a new script for your asthma crap.
