BASS!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

I have a question for all you bass players out there. I have a bass which I am not particularly a fan of, and was looking to trade on Craigslist. So far, my two main offers which I have been considering are trading my bass (worth $999 new, though I paid about $700 thanks to a discount through family) for 2 Mexican made Fender P basses, one of which I will then sell to a friend who is in need of a bass. The other offer Im considering is trading my bass for a 1986 Fender Aerodyne J bass, complete with hard-shell case and all case candy, along with $150 to make up for some belt rash on the back of the bass. My question is, what should I do? In my shoes, which deal would you personally go with and why?

Update:

Sorry, I forgot to mention my bass is a Fender Geddy Lee Jazz bass, its a really great bass I just cant get the tones I want from it. The 2 P basses are 2005 Standard precision basses, made in Mexico.

Update 2:

As for the Aerodyne, the owner tells me it was made in Japan in 1986. The serial number checks out as legitimate with the Fender website as well.

Short answer go with the 2 fenders P bass.

Question- you never said what kind of bass you are trading so its hard to tell you what is the best deal.

If the 2 fenders are Squires or low end precisions all bets are off.

Double check the areodyne bass. I don't believe they were released in the USA until 2006? If its before that it is a sub standard japanese version (both were made in japan but the first run pre 2006 were never intended for american release because of sub standard craftsmanship)

    Good luck!

EDIT: Fender Geddy Lee Jazz? Man thats a nice bass. I wouldnt do any of those deals. You can get much more for it!

The Geddy Lee model is worth considerably more than two Mexican P basses, and more than the Aerodyne. Try trading it straight across for an upper end American P bass (If thats what you really want) Take it in to an authorized Fender dealer and see what kind of deal you can get.
