  • American Idiot Musical Question?

Hi, I was just wondering, for those of you who have seen American Idiot on Broadway, how big of a character is St. Jimmy? Does he have many musical numbers, and how much time does he spend on stage? I'm planning on taking someone to see the musical solely because Davey Havok will be playing St. Jimmy in March, and was wondering if Davey will be on stage enough to make it worth going to. Thanks

  • Bass help!?!?!?!?!?!?

Hi, so I recently put my brand-new Fender Geddy Lee Jazz Bass up for trade on Craigslist. I like the bass, but Im having trouble getting the tone I want out of it so I'm looking for something differnet. Someone emailed me with an offer to trade my bass for their Highway One P Bass (which they think is a 2005 model, but in the email said they werent positive), with upgraded 62 Fender replacement pickups. The Highway One P bass new is worth about $150 less than the Geddy Lee Bass new, but Im not sure if the upgrade makes up for that. Bass players, in your opinion is this an even trade? Or should I be asking for some cash to make up for the difference? Thanks, let me know what you think.

  • BASS!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

I have a question for all you bass players out there. I have a bass which I am not particularly a fan of, and was looking to trade on Craigslist. So far, my two main offers which I have been considering are trading my bass (worth $999 new, though I paid about $700 thanks to a discount through family) for 2 Mexican made Fender P basses, one of which I will then sell to a friend who is in need of a bass. The other offer Im considering is trading my bass for a 1986 Fender Aerodyne J bass, complete with hard-shell case and all case candy, along with $150 to make up for some belt rash on the back of the bass. My question is, what should I do? In my shoes, which deal would you personally go with and why?

  • Bass Players!?!?!?!?!?

Hey R&P, its been a loooooooooong, long time. I'm back, and I have a question for all you bass players out there. • Sooooo many new albums-which is R&P most excited for?

Between now and early next year, tons and tons of great bands are releasing new albums, from Kiss to Slash to Wolfmother to Weezer. Which are you most excited for? Personally, I cant wait to hear Slash's solo album, different vocalist on every song and Slash uninhibited by asshole band mades, it should be incredible! Also, judging by the first few songs Ive heard off it, Wolfmother was not affectd at all by their lineup change last summer, and its back to the awesome retro-rock of their first album this time! So, R&P, what cant you wait to hear and why?

  • R&P- Camera for Cruefest?

Hello there R&P, it's been quite a while. Ive been quite busy, and haven't gotten on here to even look at or answer a question in a few weeks. How are you all doing?

This sunday, I will be attending Cruefest 2 in Camden, NJ at the Susquehanna Bank Center. The show I'm going to happens to be the tour opener. My tickets are in the Pit Center area, where there's seats, but we're going ot be EXTREMELY close to the stage. I was wondering, for those with either experience or simply more knowledge than I, if it would be a good or bad idea to bring a camera. I'm not sure if digital cameras are allowed at the shows or not, but my camera is a few years old and since I don't have a replacement I'd be a bit worried for its safety. I don't use it all that often, but I wouldn't want to not have it, my dad gave it to me a few years ago. I intend to stay away from moshing if possible, but in all of your opinions, dose this sound like a good idea or not? I know I could get some AWESOME pictures if I bring it, I'm just not sure if the camera will survive the pit.

  • R&P- Anyone have a clue?

    Hey there,

Recently I have become hooked on Guitar Hero, adn today I saw a message on FAcebook saying that there were clues to figure out some of the bands which would be in the next Guitar Hero game. I read the clues, and honestly couldn't figure any of them out, but I figured who better to ask than everyone here in R&P? Combined, I don't know a singer greater resource for rock music information. Here are the clues, any ideas?

-This band has a sign from a milk company hanging in the studio they record in.

-This band is named after a street that a member grew up on

-This band is named after a song by another band who used to wear white face paint.

-This band sold out 2 shows in New York in 8 hours in the 1970's

    BQ: Ever played Guitar Hero?

BQ2: Favorite song to ever be featured in Guitar Hero?

BQ3: How is everyone on this lovely evening?

  • R&P: Any Ween fans???????

I've just recently discovered Ween through a friend of mine, and also found out that they formed right near where I live, in fact in the town where I go to school (New Hope, PA) I don't know a ton of their music yet, any suggestions? Right now, Im obsessing over the song "Baby B*tch".

MQ: Favorite at least semi-famous band from your area? I know this is pretty common question, but it applies to the situation.

  • R&P-The Most Overrated Underrated bands?

    Hey R&P,

My question is, what are the most overrated "underrated" bands? In other words, what are the bands that show up soooo often on "Most Underrated Bands" lists, that they probably have earned themselves a regular rating by now.

BQ: I'm in San Diego right now. What are some good and/or well-known San Diego bands?

BQ2: Ever been misunderstood by someone over the internet? Obviously, you can't always express your emotions and feelings through typing the same way you can through talking. Has someone ever taken something you've said the wrong way, even if you meant it to be nice? I'm asking this because this happened to me recently with a question I answered, but ironically the person gave me BA on that same question.

    BQ3: How are you?

  • Those in R&P who are watching the Super Bowl-What did you think...?

Of Springsteen's performance? I know a lot of you probably aren't fans, but I like most of his music. I thought his vocals on "Born to Run" were a bit weak, but I loved his little intro "Step away from the quacamole dip, put down the chicken fingers!..." So what were your opinions on the performance?

    MQ: Favorite SuperBowl halftime performance?

MQ2: Who would be your dream halftime performance

MQ3: For those Springsteen fans, what do you think of his new album? I haven't gotten a chance to pick it up yet, so for those who have, is it worth it? I didn't like the first single at first, but it's grown on me.

MQ3: For those non-football and/or non-Springsteen fans, what are you doing now while everyone else in the world is paying attention to football and Springsteen?

Just for future reference, I am a Springsteen fan but not necesarilly a football fan, I watch the game normally for the Halftime performance and the genious moments of advertising that happen in between the men jumping on each other and fighiting over a ball.

  • Earring cleaner help (twenty characters)?

I just recently (about two weeks ago) got my left ear pierced. I have been meticulously cleaning it every morning and night with the "Ear Care" cleaning solution they gave me when they first pierced it. In coming to my mom's house from my dad's house this weekend, I accidentally left the solution at my dad's house. I was wondering, are there any substitutes I can use in the meantime, or will I have to have my dad bring it to me tonight so I can use it? Thanks in advance for the help.

  • R&P: We have lost another rock great. RIP Mitch Mitchell.?

Personally, I was just beginning to recover from the loss of Rick Wright in september, and now I have to somehow get over the fact that the Jimi Hendrix Experience is extinct. The man was only 62 years old. Hendrix would have only been 66. They could definitely still have been making music today if they were still alive (in fact, Mitchell was out on the "Experience Hendrix" Tour featuring Brad Whitford from Aerosmith and Robby Kreiger, among others, when he passed). Mitchell was one of the greatest rock drummers out there, though he didn't get a whole ton of recognition considering who was up there playing guitar at the front of the stage. So, comments? Opinions? If any of you were around ot have seen the Experience in concert (I'm sure theres a couple of you out there) stories, please?

MQ (or BQ or whatever you wanna call it now): Favorite Experience song? Also, what's your opinion on Hendrix's posthumous appearance in the new Guitar Hero game?

  • R&P- Your Opinions? ?

I'm not sure if any of you guys have heard this, but Ringo Starr posted up a message on his website letting his fans know that after the 20th of October, he wouldn't be reading any fanmail or signing anything that he received in the mail. This has caused a big stur among fans and others who think he doesn't have the right, and that fan mail is just "the price of stardom". I've heard him being called everything from a*shole to ingrate. I wanted to know you guy's opinion on the matter. Personally I support Ringo in this case, as he has been famous for over 40 years, and if you had hundreds of thousands of letters from complete strangers showing up at your door every day, you'd get pretty fed up with it too. Besides, wouldn't you rather Ringo use his hands for drumming instead of signing? I also commend Ringo for letting the public know about this decision as opposed to just tossing away all fan mail and never saying a word as to why millions of people didn't get their letters back. Feel free to disagree, this is an interesting topic to debate and I'm excited to hear everyone's opinions.

  • R&P: What do you all think of Godsmack?

I've recently been exposed to Godsmack by some of my new friends, and was wondering what everyone thinks of them. I can't get enough of their song "Voodoo", but I don't really know any more of their songs. Godsmack fans, any suggestions?

MQ: Who's buying Scott Weiland's second solo album coming out next month? I think I might get it. Never heard his first one before, is it any good?

  • R&P: Anyone else notice...?

It's a half-moon tonight, on the night of Keith Moon's death? That's kinda weird, is it some kind of sign or omen or something? RIP Keith.

    Now for something completely different...

MQ: In the songs "Gimme Shelter" by the Stones or "Anything Goes" by Guns N Roses, there's this scratching sound at the start kinda sounds like a washboard or one of those wooden things that you rub a stick against, what instrument is that, anyone have a clue?

  • R&P: First day of High School tomorrow...?

Any tips? Suggestions? General things I should know? I'm starting in a tiny private school (250 ppl in 6 grades, average class size is 10 ppl), so I have it better off then many of you, but I'm still nervous as hell, won't know anyone there.

MQ: I've decided the two bands I most need to get into are Thin Lizzy and Alice in Chains. Though this isn't exactly a question, reccomend me some albums of each of theirs that I should buy, your favorite ones. To state it as a question: What are your favorite Thin Lizzy/AIC albums?

  • Gonna make me sound like an idiot...Jonas Brothers?

Every time I see a question about the Jonas Brothers as a band someone inevitably will always say "Oh this belongs in the celebrities section, ask it there!" I'm all for the Jonas Fangirls being kicked out of here, what I don't understand is why the celebrities section? Is it a rule or something? Cuz last time I checked the Jonas Brothers were a pop band (albeit not a very good one) and this section is for Rock & Pop. Anyone care to explain? Thanks in advance.

  • Camp Crue?

My little cousin was playing the Camp Rock soundtrack the other day and I noticed something. A song from Camp Rock (titeld "We Rock" according to my cousin) sounds a whole lot to me like a song off of Motley Crue's most recent album (Saints of Los Angeles), entitled "Down at the Whisky". Is it just me, or do they sound the same to everyone? Crue had been working on this albumf or quite some time before Camp Rock was even an idea in Disney's heads, so I'm sure if anything Camp Rock is at fault.Or it could just be coincidence. I dunno. Thanks.
