Seriously, would the government pay the ransom for a soldier's release?
Please don't comment if you're not serious about your answer.
I'm just wondering, would soldier need to pay it back? Or would the government not even consider paying for the soldier?
I haven't seen anything like this in the media, so I guess it's pretty rare, I can only assume the government wouldn't though. This is probably why we see many soldiers come home in coffins.
Ray what the f*ck is your problem? You can almost be sure that this sort of thing happens.

Actually we did. Back in the 1980's we had a few people kidnapped in Beirut by Iranian backed terrorists.
Iran, which into 1979 were are allies, their military used our military equipment, while Iraq used Soviet weaponry.....this was a Cold War thing.
During the 1980's Iran & Iraq fought a very costly war. Iran had a problem though, they couldn't get spare parts for the U.S. military equipment the were using. After 1979 we stopped sending military hardware to Iran....they were now considered our enemy. As a matter of fact it was against the law to do any type of trade with Iran, if you were an American company.
Anyway, we had I believe it was 9 people kidnapped by Iranian backed terrorists in Beirut. The Reagan administration secretly sold arms, spare parts, and other military hardware to Iran to help them fight their war with Iraq. The selling of these arms lead to the slow & gradual release of those hostages. As a condition of the sale of these arms, our hostages were to be released.
So yes the American government has paid a "ransom" for the release of American's.
BTW, This illegal sale of arms, the profits, were spent on the Contras in Nicaragua.....which was also illegal. It was called the Iran~Contra Affair.....LOOK IT UP!!!!!

"This is probably why we see many soldiers come home in coffins."
Do you know what its called when you come up with a conclusion that's unrelated to a premise? Retarded.
Your conclusion implies there are thousands of soldiers held hostage, pending ransom, who are then executed. This is not the case.
Soldiers die because of IEDs, gunfire, etc. The most recent Medal of Honor winner was awarded for preventing another soldier's capture. In this war, captured soldiers are killed, not ransomed.
If you want to ask questions in the future, fine. Just close your mouth before the stupidity starts falling out.

A captured member of the US Military is considered a Prisoner of War.
When the war is over, prisoners are repatriated.
Our casualty rates in Iraq and Afghanistan have been very very low.

You mean if he was taken captive? A US soldier being taken captive is very rare, and it's even more rare if he isn't gotten back (as in rescued) within a very short time.
But if he is captive then rescue is the biggest thing. The US doesn't screw around making promises like a ransom with terrorists. They wouldn't honor it.

We say we are going to pay them, then we set up a trap. Dispite what these people said, we would pay them. But also take measures for a attempt capture of the group.
Usually terrorist dont ask for money they ask you to leave the country or not to advance somwere though.

Never gonna happen. We don't negotiate with terrorists or enemies. Our personnel knew that when they signed up.

The US does not negotiate.
