How hard is it to learn the drums?

I would really like to learn to play the drums. I play the trumpet and piano, so I know my rythms and beats. I always enjoyed drums and now I was wondering how hard it would be to play them.

Also, could someone recommend a decent beginner's drum set?

The drums aren't hard at all, unless what you want to learn is hard. It's the easiest to learn and the hardest to master in my opinion because there are nearly limitless styles and combinations in equipment and hardware that change what you can do and how you play. If you listened to something like AC/DC, nearly all the drum parts are slight variations of the basic rock beat. If you listen to metal it's blazing fast double bass and lots of sick tom fills. If you listen to jazz it usually sounds easy, but in reality is very complex and sometimes unpredictable. It all depends on what you want to be able to play and whether you want to do it as a hobby or a way to pay the bills.

As for a beginners drum set, I can't really recommend a specific kit since I didn't start with a beginners kit, but I would say that you would be safe starting off with a 4 piece kit, and the brand all depends on what you can afford.

What an awesome start to drums. You having played the trumpet would have a great understanding of notes and rhythm structures. Im not going to tell you if they are easy or hard, as each person is different and not everyone picks up drums at the same speed. So my advice is go and get some lessons at least 5 - 10 and self evaluate on well you and picking it up and enjoy it. Then you need to be honest with yourself and either continue or move on to maybe something like percussion instruments. ie Bongos, Congo's, etc.

As for drum kits and great beginner kits will depend on taste and budget. My suggestion is don't buy cheap and nasty as it will put you off playing them. Hold off on buying a kit until you know for sure you wish to play the drums. If you live in the city or block of flats you should look at electronic drums made by Pearl or Roland.

Well, I wouldn't say any instrument is "hard to learn" per se. Mainly because you shouldn't look at learning an instrument as how easy it is (loosely translated to how fast it would take) to learn it. All it takes to learn any instrument that you want is dedication, interest, and experimentation.

I mean, I am a drummer, so what I can tell you is drumming all really about what you listen to. Find out what you like and go from there. :D

Drums are more easy to learn than the others-all it takes is learning your "beats"-no reading "music notes"-just buy a small 4-piece single-bass drum-set (like the beatles drum-set)-I was a drummer at age11 through my teen years-(practice to your favorite music-get better...)

in case you comprehend the assumption already, then I say choose for it. i might say that despite in case you probably did no longer, yet considering which you comprehend the assumption, it quite is going to likely be plenty extra handy. like another solutions say, initiate out studying uncomplicated beats and rhythms, and then development up your velocity, coordination, and persistence. the only element it quite is distinctive approximately studying drums than the different tool is that drums are very bodily laborious sometimes. So initiate gradual, and it will gradually grow to be extra handy. With prepare, something is elementary.

Drums is the easiest "instrument". If you have arms and can hit a drum with a stick then you could be the drummer for any big rock band.
