Does Xanax cause weight gain?
I have very bad panic attacks and before I started seeing a therapist, I was afraid to drive on the highway, get in an elevator, and get on an airplane (still haven't in years but we're working on it.) He prescibed me xanax and I've felt so good on it that I didn't notice the 15lbs I gained in 5 months. Could it be because I'm happier and eating more? or is it the actual pill increasing my appetite? I'll take the excess weight over the anxiety I used to encounter, but I'm just wondering if anyone has a definitive answer by experience because I get conflicting ones form everyone I know and even medical studies.
And yes I do get cravings...but I am a woman so I think that may be the estrogen lol.

Xanax has a calming effect, when your body and mind is relaxed, you tend not to burn as many calories.
It's all about calories in and calories out. If one intakes more calories than one burns, than that person will gain weight. That's what it really comes down too.
Some basis diet and exercise should be more than enough to keep weight gain at bay.

Here are some changes that you can incorporate into your life now that will take some weight off, and more importantly keep it off.
Drink more water
Don't drink any soda, even diet soda has a lot of sodium [salt] which will keep water in your body.
Eat more fruits and veggies, less processed food and fatty meat.
Cut out the junk food. Learn more here:
