Wearing military attire?

I used to be in the Canadian Forces, and now I'm not. When I left, I got to keep a bunch of my formal wear, including my beret w/ badge.

Now, I'm creating a new look for myself, and realized that my beret would be an excellent addition to the style. However, I don't know if I'm allowed to wear it. I did earn the beret and badge myself, but although it's a uniform item, they didn't ask for it back when I left.

Am I allowed to wear my beret even though I am now a civilian?

I'm considering just taking the badge off and wearing it plain.

showing disrespect by wearing parts of a military uniform as a civilian is a bunch of crap. wear your stuff to show your pride at being a vet. I'm not saying wear a complete uniform, but using your field jacket with civvies is ok or wearing your military shirt with jeans is fine. i wear my field jacket with my unit patches on the back and front and my medals and decorations above the left brest pocket. i wear them to show everyone that i am pround to be a vietnam vet. i would wear the beret with the badge.

ok first of all what the guy above me sent is for people who were not out on a honorable discharge or never in the military which they can be charged with impersonating a military personnel. 2nd of all i would call that disrespect to the uniform to mix it with civilian attire. if u are discharged with on honorable standards you get to keep your uniform items and all medals/badges because you earned them. im sure if u look around online u can find a civilian beret to buy to wear however you like.

This is what I found looking into Canadian Law:

Unlawful use of military uniforms or certificates

    419. Every one who without lawful authority, the proof of which lies on him,

    (a) wears a uniform of the Canadian Forces or any other naval, army or air force or a uniform that is so similar to the uniform of any of those forces that it is likely to be mistaken therefor,

    (b) wears a distinctive mark relating to wounds received or service performed in war, or a military medal, ribbon, badge, chevron or any decoration or order that is awarded for war services, or any imitation thereof, or any mark or device or thing that is likely to be mistaken for any such mark, medal, ribbon, badge, chevron, decoration or order,

    (c) has in his possession a certificate of discharge, certificate of release, statement of service or identity card from the Canadian Forces or any other naval, army or air force that has not been issued to and does not belong to him, or

    (d) has in his possession a commission or warrant or a certificate of discharge, certificate of release, statement of service or identity card, issued to an officer or a person in or who has been in the Canadian Forces or any other naval, army or air force, that contains any alteration that is not verified by the initials of the officer who issued it, or by the initials of an officer thereto lawfully authorized,

is guilty of an offence punishable on summary conviction.

In the US, active soldiers can't mix civilian and military attire. However, civilians who own military attire can wear it with any modifications they want. I'd be shocked if Canada's rules were any different.

the only one which I even have ever considered (and that i'm extremely previous) replace into George, undertaking carried out, Bush and his flight tournament. Even Eisenhower, who replace right into a 5 celeb regularly occurring, never wore militia dresses as president. The funniest section replace into that Bush went AWOL and nevertheless had the nerve of donning the flight tournament.
