can you freeze a phone by over texting?

One of my friends does not get cell phone signal when she's at home and some of my friends (like 15 people) are going to send several hundred texts a piece to the phone when they get into signal all these texts. Will receiving that many text messages cause problems for the phone?

Update:

ok well to the people saying yes, what kind of problems can it cause?

Yes,you can, it just because the system can not process it in time. It depends on different cell phones and cell phone companies that you registered.

Yes, proboably. You should read them, then delete them if it fills up too much memory storage.
