DOG RIMADYL OVERDOSE HELP? I don't know if my dog overdosed or not...?

My dog is one and a half years old. Seymour (my dog) just got back from being neutered where he was given 1/2 of a 25mg tablet of rimadyl. I was not aware he was given the tablet so i gave him another 1/2 of a tablet. The pill bottle tells me to give him 1/2 of a tablet 2 times a day... but it was 30 mins of each other.

should i be worried?

He is 15lbs and a yorkie mix

That is not likely to be a lethal dose.

However, to be safe, call your vet, the local emergency animal hospital or ASPCA Poison Control at 888-426-4435.

IF you got him there quickly he should be fine. My sisters dog got into the rimadyl and it was not immediately discovered. Sadly the dog died from a perforated stomach from the overdose even though she was treated by a vet. Time is of the essence in a case like this.

Call your vet immediately. They will tell you whether or not this is a problem with your particular dog.

We can look up the dosage, but without a complete history of this dog, there is no one answer.

You need to ask important questions of your vet, not random people on the internet.

Your probably ok. Just don't give him any more and monitor him.
