Christians: Would it both you to find a copy of The God Delusion in a hotel room you'd just check in to?

If your answer is "yes" - please explain how this is different than the reaction non-believers should have when opening the hotel nightstand to find a gift from the Gideons.

The money that the Gideons spend on placing Bibles in hotel rooms could be better used to help the worse off. No doubt that's one reason why there isn't an organisation that places secular books in hotel rooms.

Why should ideas I disagree with bother me? Am I so high and mighty that the whole world must bow to my wishes? Or can I be civil and humane, and say "you believe this way, I believe that way, and that does not offend me?"

Beyond that, what comfort does the destruction of a system of hope give to anyone? Is anyone ever a happier person knowing that, as Dawkins tells us, we are nothing more than an accident that had no purpose? That there's nothing that we can know for sure, because the universe moves from a state of order to a state of disorder, and if the initial accident is the first state, there is no reason to believe that our current state is any more orderly.

Read through the Psalms, and see if that doesn't give you a sense of peace and hopefulness. Then read through Dawkins, and see if your life has any meaning. And then you will have an answer.

    If I didn't want to read it, I wouldn't.

I think people should do that with hotel Bibles also. The reason that Christians do provide Bibles to hotels is that they believe that a happier life, in this world and the next, will be available if one finds the peace and love in God.

Now you are free to disagree with that. I only hope that you see that the intent is kind and accept that intent. There is little enough kindness in the world, so try not to take offense at what is lovingly intended. It is rather like a present one doesn't like. It is well meant and we don't insult the person who tried to do us a good turn.

Why ought to innovations I disagree with issue me? Am I so severe and powerful that the full international ought to desire to bow to my desires? Or am i waiting to be civil and humane, and say "you think of this type, i think of that way, and that doesn't offend me?" previous that, what convenience does the destruction of a gadget of want grant to each physique? Is each physique ever a happier guy or lady be attentive to-how that, as Dawkins tells us, we are particularly no longer some thing greater appropriate than an twist of fate that had no objective? that there is no longer some thing that we are able to understand for advantageous, by utilising actuality the universe strikes from a state of order to a state of ailment, and if the preliminary twist of fate is the 1st state, there's no reason to have self perception that our cutting-edge-day state is to any quantity extra orderly. learn in the time of the Psalms, and see if that doesn't grant you a feeling of peace and hopefulness. There have been many cases of a Bible being read in hotel rooms that have saved and changed lives, when one comes to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.

Reading and trusting in "The God Delusion" book (or Richard Dawkins) will never save a single solitary life, in fact it will cause many to lose their life if they continue to trust in the lies of the world, the devil and the flesh.

If I found "The God Delusion" book in a hotel room I was in, I would bring it to the front desk. But it would not bother me. I know the truth (Jesus Christ) and He has set me free.

I stay in hotel rooms almost every week due to work...I've been tempted more than once to appropriately annotate the bibles in each room I stay in... Maybe I'll just have a bunch of stickers printed up to paste on each "For the real truth, please pick up a copy of 'The God Delusion' at your local bookstore."

I make it a point to remove every bible from each hotel or hospital I stay in.

I would love to leave a copy of The God Delusion in each, but I simply can't afford it.

    It wouldn't bother me.

At the end of the book a whole chapter is devoted to the awesomeness of Nature. How Nature (with a capital N) did this, or Nature did that. He's talking about God in it, he's just given him the title Nature. He fell into his own trap. lol.

No, I just wouldn't use that hotel chain anymore.

The vast majority of Americans are Christian and there is nothing wrong with catering to that large market.

Atheists need to get it through their heads that Christians dominate our culture and smart marketers will act accordingly.

Sorry if this hurts your feelings.

No, I would read the whole book and I am a hardcore old school christian. I would read it so I could understand the Atheist's argument and then knock you off of your God bashing pedestal.
