Why did my christmas cake crumble away to nothing when i tried to eat it?
I made a christmas cake this year a couple of months in advance. I kept 'feeding' it ie with brandy etc, and when i tried to eat it crumbled away to nothing. I couldn't actually pick up a slice to, had to use a fork. What went wrong? Thanks in advance.

the moisture exceeded what the cake could absorb and still retain it's structure.
