Why do Cops have to be such *****?

OK.. I was in this local pub the other night. I live 4 blocks away. When I walked out noticed I parked in a no parking from 8:00 to 5:30 zone. Was moving my car over 2 parking stalls to be free from that zone approx. 20 feet and the cops swooped in on me. OK.. DUI.. Reckless driving..no head lights (I had them on) and no seat belt. I explained what I was doing, Then I was walking home. Cop says "Ya right likely story" and off to jail I went. Who exactly is driving the wedge between the general public and the police? I'm 56 yrs old no previous issues on my record. And like I said did not drive 10 feet. Where does this reckless driving come in??

Update:

Is this not a bit of "OVER KILL"???

I know, some cops are just d*cks. Cops that hang around bars are the worst. Sorry to hear you got messed with. Hopefully you can straighten it out in court.

No it is not overkill. You my friend, are the definition of an idiot. By the age of 56, you think you would know by now how the law works (I am 17 and I know). If you are in a vehicle at all while intoxicated, doesn't matter if the keys are even in the engine, it is a DUI. He probably added the reckless driving to make sure you would not re-offend (I forget the percentage but over 60% of DUI offenders get another DUI in their lifetime). It's people like you that say "Oh I'm good to move my car to another space" which turns into "Well I was fine when I moved my car that one time when I was drunk so I could drive home drunk no problem" which turns into "I'm serving a lifetime sentence for killing someone while drunk driving".

The minute you started your car after drinking Its a DUI >>>> Doesn't matter how far you went.

Lawyer should be able to get reckless dropped. DUI will stick the officer saw you.

Most people know that cops wait near bars for the first person to come & start up their car.

With no previous priors >>>> A fine .... Probation .... One year suspension ..... Alcohol device detector at your own cost upon return of license.

    Your insurance is another story.

They see you coming out of the bar and getting in your car. What are they supposed to do? Wait until you pull out on the road and take a life before pulling you over? An accident could have occurred right then and there, the minute you pulled onto the road, if another car was passing by and you didn't see it. Then the cops would be responsible for not stopping you beforehand. I've heard of lots of situations where cops made a bad call, but I don't think this was one of them.

So you admit to getting behind the wheel while under the influence of an alcoholic beverage and are arrested for DUI, and its the cops fault? Guess you should have found a sober person to move the car then.

I hate when people blame their stupidity on the police.

Every day a cops gets up and goes to work his main goal is to prove to everyone he has the biggest dick. That's all it is. It's like the dumb jocks in high school. Nothing intellectual going on; just a primitive dick contest.

Just take it to court and hopefully the judge will let you off with a stern warning. What you did was wrong and you got caught regardless. Sorry, but I'd have lived with the parking ticket than take the chance of driving while under the influence. That's just me though.

  • Dude, in AZ you can't even get in the drivers seat of a car if you're drunk or they'll hit you with a DUI. A friend of mine got one while he was SLEEPING in his parked car. Unfortunately, if you drive even an inch and you've been drinking, game over. Live and learn I guess. And the wreckless driving came from the simple fact that you were intoxicated.

Normally I would say it's because they were bullies in High School and it's the only way for them to continue bullying people in adult world, but in this case I would side with the cops. I'm amazed that you can't see their reason for doing this and actually think they were in the wrong in this particular situation. Even if you were telling the truth, what are they supposed to do? Give you a lie detector? What separates you from every other drunk person that comes out of that bar and gets in their car and drives home drunk? How are they supposed to know what your intentions were? You think drunks don't make up stories? While you probably were telling the truth, you need to look at it from their point of view. 99 times out of 100, if someone is coming out of a bar and gets in their car, chances are, they are doing that because they plan to drive home drunk.

Who wants wimpy, pathetic cops? Cops are there to enforce the law, not babysit criminals.
