SPD, 10 wks pregnant....worried?
Im displaying all the signs and symptoms of SPD (Symphysis Pubis Dysfunction). This is when the ligaments stretch and thin out to much causing a gap to form in your pelvis.
I'm having a lot of pelvic floor discomfort when I walk, climb stairs, sit or stand for extended period of times. I am only 10 WEEKS along.
I had a lot of this problem when I was 30 wks pregnant with my last. Each time I went in for it, my cervix had thinned and I was hospitalized for days at a time and sent home on bed rest. I'm not sure if the thinning of the cervix was caused by SPD or not. Not sure if SPD can cause that.
Being so early in this pregnancy, again, 10 WEEKS, i'm really concerned about. I'm afraid that I could miscarry and lose this baby.
Does any one know if SPD can cause miscarriages or loss of a baby? I called my OB and she said to rest the weekend and if it wasn't better to make an appt next week. But, I cannot help to be overly worried about it now. I can't find anything on the internet about SPD and concerns of it in an early pregnancy.
So, I guess...Am I over worrying myself? I had such a hard pregnancy last round, with months of bed rest and thinning of cervix (causing worry of baby comming to early)...I'm really stressing it.
Anyone out there who has been diagnosed with SPD or can tell me the concerns of it during early pregnancy?
Thanks alot!

They probably won't do it. Ultrasounds are expensive, and the techs make good money. If you're 8 weeks they will NOT find anything on an abdominal u/s so it's a waste of time. A transvaginal u/s isn't that bad, definitely a heck of a lot more comfortable than getting an exam. As for the fish, I'm sure it's fine-it's probably made of haddock, the same stuff they make fish sticks from. It's perfectly safe =) It won't actually be going into your uterus, that test isn't done during pregnancy. You will lie down on a table with your knees bent and feet in holders called stirrups. The health care provider will place a probe, called a transducer, into the vagina. The probe is covered with a condom and a gel. The probe sends out sound waves, which reflect off body structures. A computer receives these waves and uses them to create a picture. The doctor can immediately see the picture on a nearby TV monitor. The health care provider will move the probe within the area to see the pelvic organs. This test can be used during pregnancy. In some cases, a special transvaginal ultrasound method called saline infusion sonography (SIS), also called sonohysterography or hysterosonography, may be needed to more clearly view the uterus. This test requires saline (sterile salt water) to be placed into the uterus before the ultrasound. The saline helps outline any abnormal masses, so the doctor can get a better idea of their size. SIS is not done on pregnant women.

Sweetheart the best advice I can ever give you would be to call the docs just like I always do! You cannot keep worrying yourself.
