Could she be Borderline Autistic or have Aspergers?
My daughter started pre school at age 3. She is now 5 years old. Here Pre school teacher through out the year at age 3, had mentioned "Border line Autism" or "ADD" to me, because she was having some concerns. She had gone through some School testing, and came out fine, to be tested again in a year. However, that pre school had closed due to lack of financing, and she was never retested.
Her Behavior at age 3 in pre school:
During circle time or story time: Lack of Interest, finding a rock or a shred of paper on the floor and focusing on it more then the activity.
Socializing: Pulls away from group activities or out door plays, tends to be off doing her own thing rather then being in group activities.
Lack of eye contact. She refuses to make eye contact when being spoken to, or asked to.
Speech: Her speech is behind the other children her age, and needs a little bit of speech therapy.
Her Behavior Now:
She still pulls away from group activities. She plays very well one on one, but if there are more then one child around, she is off doing her own thing.
She still has a difficult time making eye contact when spoken to, or asked to.
Her speech is a little bit behind other kids her age. Needs a little Speech therapy to get her vowels correctly.
She cannot sit still, she is constantly on the go, unless she is engaged at coloring or drawing. Her obsession these last two years has been Bugs, and Eggs (Butterfly eggs, Chicken Eggs, Dragon Eggs, Dinosaur Eggs). She focus's on drawing those the majority of the time.
Something NEW she has started however these last two weeks: While playing a computer game, she gets excited and begins to jump and flap her hands about (Super cute, but I've only ever seen that once before, in my friends autistic daughter).
She is a very sweet girl, and does not have any out bursts or enraged behavior. She is very out going here at home, Talks ... ALL the time! Makes conversation with others while out and about, but pulls away when her age group is over for a play date or at pre school. She does not, however, take direction well. It is a repeated thing around my house, to ask her to listen to my words over and over and over, and even then, she has a hard time understanding or focusing on what is being said to her.
She does not fit into any of the "Test book" check lists for Aspergers or Autistic or ADD I have found on line. But since Pre School and over the last two years, I have had many many individuals question ADD, Autism or Aspergers. Her Pre School Teacher, Strangers in a store, A nurse giving my 10 month old shots asked me if she had ADHD and that I really should see about having her medicated to make my life easier. I was quite livid.
She is 5 years old, and my oldest. What is acceptable and normal behavior for a kid who just turned 5? Im at a lost, and find myself questioning, is she being a normal kid (which I've always excused her behavior as) or is there something to her behavior that I am undermining?
Thanks a lot, sorry so long!
2 AnswersSpecial Education9 years agoBack Spasms, I really miss sleeping in a BED! Please help?
Since I was 3 or 4 months pregnant, I began to have lower back spasms while sleeping in my bed. My baby is now 10 months old, so I have not been able to sleep in a bed for over a year now.
I have gone through 3 different mattresses, bought a VERY expensive Memory Foam topper, to no relief. I just cannot, for any thing, sleep flat in a bed! And I miss my bed :,(
Things I have tried: Fetal position with pillow between legs, New Mattresses, Muscle Relaxers before bed (however, Im still waking up bout 4 am or earlier with spasms).
I did have a sever Vitamin D deficiency, and was put on 56, 000 Mg of Vitamin D a day, for 4 months, to cut back to normal dose of 2,000 Mg a day there after. Dont know if that has anything to do with it, the lack of Vitamin D or not, but I have been feeling MUCH better, other then the constant spasms.
I know its time to see a doctor, but, can anyone help me out in the mean time?
What possibly could be causing these back spasms, as I cannot sleep in my bed, I have to sleep in my recliner, at an angle to prevent them. Nothing I have tried seems to make a difference :(
3 AnswersPain & Pain Management9 years agoSide effects after 6 mo shots?
My daughter who is 9 mo old had her 6 mo shots on Thursday (I know, Im a little behind...working two jobs and caring for my 3 babes). Anyways, Immediately following the last shot, she held her breath and had a small seizure. The Doctor felt that it was caused from her holding her breath and the lack of oxygen.
She has been a little fussy since, but not to bad. However, today she has been running a slight Fever of 102.2 and 102.4 both have been brought down to normal with Tylenol. She is eating alright, and taking her sippy cup.
Im not sure if the fever is because of the shots, or her teething. It has been three days since her shots....
I guess I am a bit more concerned because of what she went through following her shots... it really scared me! Will fevers occur 3-4 days following a shot, and should I be concerned about it?
Much appreciated!

3 AnswersOther - Careers & Employment9 years agoSudden lack of Bladder control in my dog.?
I called the vet tonight, he said if it continues to call first thing in the morning and he will be out to examine my dog. But, I am worried, and either way, I will be calling first thing in the morning to arrange a good time for him to come out and take a peek and my Red.
Red is an 8 year old Golden Retriever. He has always had OUTSTANDING control of bladder and has never had any issues. We regularly take him out through out the day, and on the rare occasions (holidays or family functions that may keep us from the home hours at a time) he has never had an accident.
This morning I awoke to a flood. I assumed, I slept through hearing him when he was trying to tell me. However, through out the day there has been many more floods. Took him out, left for 3 hours: Returned home to a flood. Took him out, left for 2 hours: Returned to a flood. He told me he had to go out and in the time it took me to get up from my chair and to the front door, it was to late...there was a flood.
Im really worried about him. It is not leakage, or small dribbles, it is full force, floor sopping, urine. What "possible" things could be to suspect as the cause here? He is not acting sick, hurt or in pain, not lethargic, eating and drinking fine, no blood in urine from what I can see....the only difference has been settle over time weight gain and a little more difficulty in climbing onto furniture. I just assumed age was catching up with him a little bit.
I just worry, I love my dog to pieces, he is a huge part of this family and considered one of the kids. Thanks alot!!
4 AnswersDogs9 years ago36.4 pregnant, question about discharge?
I am 36 and 4 days pregnant. 2 days ago, I had a cervical cerclage removed. Procedure went with out incodent and no bleeding. I was 1 cm and 50% effaced at the time of removal. He said he could feel baby's head!
I've been contracting daily the majority of this pregnancy, and was registering on the monitor before procedure, but of course, once the procedure was over nothing and have not felt another contraction since, I was alittle bummed, go figure.
ANYWAYS....I awoke this morning to vaginal discharge. Just the regulare thin, white milky stuff....nothing that would appear to be a mucus plug. However, it is tinged with alittle bit of blood. A good sign? I dont know, what do you think? Could this mean anything??
Thanks alot!!
Ohh, I know Im not term yet, but Dr. said I am safe to go and that they would not stop labor, baby looks great, and they feel baby will be perfectly health if born at this time! Cannot NOT wait!
3 AnswersPregnancy10 years agoCervical Cerclage Removal and Labor?
I am currently 3 weeks away from having my cervical cerclage removed! I am very excited about it!
At 20 weeks, my cervix was funneling and they put in the cerclage, I was 3 cm dialated.
I am now 33 weeks and awaiting anxiously for the cerclage to come out and see what happens!!!!
I was wondering....
1). How is it having the cerclage removed?
(I will be in the hospital, having it removed under a spinal block).
2). How long did it take you to go into labor once the cerclage was removed?
(I know everyone is different).
Im really curiouse to see how long it has taken some to go into labor once it was taken out. The dr. said she is pretty sure I wont make it the full 40 weeks, that I will go pretty quickly...but im pretty anxiouse and excited about it, so any information would be great, thanks!!!
1 AnswerPregnancy10 years agoSPD, 10 wks pregnant....worried?
Im displaying all the signs and symptoms of SPD (Symphysis Pubis Dysfunction). This is when the ligaments stretch and thin out to much causing a gap to form in your pelvis.
I'm having a lot of pelvic floor discomfort when I walk, climb stairs, sit or stand for extended period of times. I am only 10 WEEKS along.
I had a lot of this problem when I was 30 wks pregnant with my last. Each time I went in for it, my cervix had thinned and I was hospitalized for days at a time and sent home on bed rest. I'm not sure if the thinning of the cervix was caused by SPD or not. Not sure if SPD can cause that.
Being so early in this pregnancy, again, 10 WEEKS, i'm really concerned about. I'm afraid that I could miscarry and lose this baby.
Does any one know if SPD can cause miscarriages or loss of a baby? I called my OB and she said to rest the weekend and if it wasn't better to make an appt next week. But, I cannot help to be overly worried about it now. I can't find anything on the internet about SPD and concerns of it in an early pregnancy.
So, I guess...Am I over worrying myself? I had such a hard pregnancy last round, with months of bed rest and thinning of cervix (causing worry of baby comming to early)...I'm really stressing it.
Anyone out there who has been diagnosed with SPD or can tell me the concerns of it during early pregnancy?
Thanks alot!
3 AnswersPregnancy1 decade ago10 wks pregnant, pelvic floor achiness?
I am 10 weeks into my pregnancy. The past three days or so, my pelvic floor has been really achy. I had this a lot with my second child, and each time I had gone in to have it looked at, my cervix had thinned out and I was put on bed rest and in the hospital for days at a time. So, I'm really very concerned about it now, especially being that it is SO EARLY in this pregnancy.
I called my OB and she said to rest the weekend and if it isn't better to make an appointment next week. But, I'm pretty concerned, especially with all the trouble I had last pregnancy. I didn't have this kind of issues until I was 30 weeks along.
What could it be, and do I need be as worried and concerned as I am??
Thanks alot!
1 AnswerPregnancy1 decade agoParental Rights as Father where does he begin?
A friend of mine is trying to establish his rights with his children. His wife left him in a spure of the moment years ago (they were married at 16, and didnt work out obviously.) He has made effort after effort to find her and his children. He saw them today, in the mall. So, he knows they are still in town, she has just become very good at hiding. She ran with the children, so he was unable to talk to her.
They are not divorced or legally seperated. What is his rights and how would he go about developing and establishing his rights? He does not have a clue where she is located or living. However, he is paying Child Support (they wont release information about her location however). He loves his girls and is desperate to see them and establish a relationship with them and same for his younger daughter who obviously doesnt know her sisters.
There is nothing legally established as far as a divorce, Seperation, Restraining order. There is nothing legal saying he cannot see his girls, however she is keeping them from him . He is current and has always been current on child support, but wants to provide more...such as being a father. He does not want to give up on his children, he wants them apart of his life and wants to be apart of theirs.
Where does he start.... Keeping in mind he does not have much money. He works in the mall and scrapes by with hardships. But, he is doing the best he can.

2 AnswersOther - Family & Relationships1 decade agoI've decided NOT Martial Arts for 3 yr old, but what about Gymnastics?
I posted a question earlier about how some felt about putting a toddler in Martial Arts. The response was really negative. I decided to call some of the local Family Martial Arts Studios here in town. Although they offered classes for Toddlers, the instructors were very honest with me and suggested we wait and review that option when she is a bit older! I appreciate their opinions and honesty!!
I did some review on Gymnastics. I Watched some Youtube Videos on Toddler Gymnastic classes, and they looked like so much fun. I think my daughter would really enjoy them. We are very loving and involved parents. We want to install good and healthy habits in our children. I am not as healthy as I know I could be, and want my daughter to do better for herself then I did for myself. I know that the best place to install healthy habits is here at home...which we are doing in full swing right now! However, I also want to install these healthy habits at an early age. She is 3 yrs old.
We have some extra money, and we want to do something productive for our toddler with it. We want to do something that is going to help us install confidence, self dicipline and esteem, and most of all...something she is REALLY going to have fun doing! I know the best place to start with installing these character building things is at home...but what can it hurt to add alittle help, and will give her some more interaction with other children then just the 2 hours in Pre - School.
Is it a good idea to add extra activities to a toddlers schedual, or all in all....is it to demanding on them and to much expectation? Im having a hard time deciding to enroll her in a special activity during her week, or taking that money and putting it into her room and savings.
What are your thoughts, Good idea? Bad Idea? Why or why not?
Thanks alot in advance!
7 AnswersMartial Arts1 decade agoHow can I help my 4 mo. sleep through the night?
My 4 month old baby is a good baby. She on average got me up once a night during the first two months.
Now she is 4 months old and has me up sometimes as much as 4 times a night. I've started cerial feeding, Im also nursing and using formula.
I typically give her cerial before bed time with a boob or a bottle on top of it to try and make sure she is good and full. Does not seem to be helping at all. Any advice, tricks or tips?

4 AnswersBeer, Wine & Spirits1 decade ago2 yr. olds and Tantrums?
I asked this question once before, but I did not word it quite like I should have, so here it goes
My 2 yr. old daughter has started throwing tantrums here latley. They are uncontrollable, ear peircing, kicking, hitting, crying and screaming. I have tried to just sit with her and lovingly help her get through them. I have tried time outs and now i just dont know what to do. I cant seem to do anything but put her in her room and tell her she can come out when she is done. They can last any where from 30 minutes to HOURS. I gert so frustrated, I find myself almost to the point of tears often times. My dicipline skills dont seem to be cutting it.
I thought perhaps she was trying to tell me I havnt been spending enough time with her, so I spent all of last week doing crafts, baking, playing and sitting and visiting with her on her level...has not helped.
I dont know where this is comming from or what to do know.
I am being consistant, and I continue on with the good fight and absolutly do not give in with her to what she wants. I am approaching them with calm and rashional behavior.
What else can I do?
ALSO...when she pulls this in the store, what is an appropriate dicipline for this behavior in public.

7 AnswersPregnancy1 decade agoHow long do you think before labor begins?
Well, I am past my due date. I am 40 weeks and 3 days pregnant.
I am 100% effaced, 4cm dialated and baby is engaged. Yesterday, the doctor did a membrane sweep at 4pm.
It is now 7:30 am and I had some "bloody show"...a small amount discharge that was blood streaked. Im assuming that it was more of my plug, but guess it could be from a rough exam.
How long do you think??
Thanks!
