Do you have a degree? If so, then entry level jobs would take you. If you do not, then simply find a job as Food And Nutrtional Services for a hospital. FAN's sounds good and has decent pay and take stay at home moms. Stray away from retail places, they can look good at corporate level, but anything below does not look good. Also try being a administrative assistant, or a receptionist. There is decent jobs in those fields as well. If your skilled for something big, then think big, and work your tush getting there. ====misread===== resume. Be honest with your resume. Do not lie too much. Just state what you have done. maybe even put in a letter explaining what you have been up to. Just find a job, work there two years ,then look else where.

First, let's put on the table my "Outstanding!" to you for being a five year SAHM. You've invested in something that will last a lifetime.

    Onto the task at hand.....

The items you listed are most probably true; however, they have to be presented in the framework of accomplishments you've done, responsibilities held, skills applied, etc.

I know what you're thinking, "But Robert! How can I do this if I've been a five year SAHM?!"

    Try this:

    1) RESEARCH: Research the job postings on the jobs you desire. Make detailed notes on the commonalities across the postings. That is, what are they all looking for that is the same?

    2) GET TRANSITIONAL EXPERIENCE: Work through a temporary agency, non-profit as a volunteer, etc. specifically targeting the attainment of the commonalities referred to in "1" above. If you have friends that are SAHMs, be sure to ask for their help through their spouses to explore opportunities. After all, who else would better be your advocate!?

    3) GET EDUCATION: If education is an issue, you'll have to address through a local school/program. Insure it is accredited. Avoid high priced private school mills. Be aware of tuition assistance offered through your transitional employeer referred to in "2" above to keep your costs low.

    4) NETWORK: Find connections/those you know that work in a like position you might be interested in someday working. Join their organizations, clubs, etc. to make yourself visible. Stay active. Get a mentor that can help you get there through this.

Think of it in steps, not a large leap.

My best to you in your transition!

you could collectively summarize the "at-home" and/or "at-school skills" (ie: call yourself a "School Assistant" - did you ever volunteer or co-chair a committee or run a workshop at your children's school, lead a children's literacy group or after school activity or do temp work through an agency?). You should definitely list duties and responsibilities you've had outside the home and try to lump the time
