What are some traditional New Year's customs outside of the United States?

Update:

Actually I believe the Chinese New Year's is in February. Do the Chinese who live in the States celebrate two New Years?

In China we eat moon cakes

We also wear red and blow up fireworks to ward off the evil spirits (don't do the fireworks thing)

On New Year's Day, the Chinese family will eat a vegetarian dish called jai. Although the various ingredients in jai are root vegetables or fibrous vegetables, many people attribute various superstitious aspects to them:

We sometimes also eat a very traditional Chinese dish called : Nian Gao

    It's a sticky rice pudding

The Chinese New year isn't just one day, it's fifteen.

Sometimes it's in Feb. but sometimes it's in jan.

I don't know about other chinese-americans but my family celebrates regular new year and chinese new year

    Hope this helped!

In Ghana, you either go to church or you go clubing(to a party)'

A few people play with fireworks and crackers-is that the right word?those miniature sticks of 'dynamite' but they were banned by the police years ago because alot of the senior citizens complained the sudden noises gave them shocks.

There's no special food people eat on new year's day,you eat whatever you want.
