What killed my chicken?
We have 4 geese 2 goats and 9 chickens in our barn. One of our chickens was found outside with all of the feathers on its neck pulled out. It happened again and this time all the feathers on its head were gone. When it was attacked a second time it died. Which of the animals attacked the chicken? Was it the goat because they eat everything in sight or was it the geese because they are known to be vicious. Are there any Solutions to solve this problem. This has only happened to the chickens with red feathers so is there a pattern. All useful answers will be appreciated.

If a chicken is noticeably hurt, the other chickens will kill it. Geese are vicious and do pluck, so it could possibly be them, though lots of people keep ducks and chickens together and never have that problem. I would not think it was the goat; stomping maybe but not plucking.
Here is a link to info on other poultry predators and the signs they leave behind: http://icwdm.org/inspection/livestock.asp Maybe it could be a weasel.

Do you have any cockerels or ganders?
Our drake will happily mount any other bird and holds on to the feathers on the back of the neck and head. He left one of our chickens in a right state.
After that, she lost a lot of feathers through stress. He just seemed to single our one bird for his morning ritual
