I have zero credit and would like to purchase a home I know it might not help a lot but if I got the zune network into my name instead of my moms and paid it on time would that build my credit the same as a cell phone would?

Get a credit card from local bank and pay it in time. You also can use this service to avoid common mistakes while buiding credit and pre-estimate future scores for different scenarios of payments - credit-report-free.totalh.com

The best way to build credit is to get a credit card and/or a bank loan and make sure to make the payments. It takes 24 months of credit history to build up your credit score.

No only credit cards and bank loans build credit. Borrow 1k from your bank, put it in a savings account and make payments for 10 months. You have now established credit

No, and a cell phone doesn't do anything to your credit. it only does something when you DON'T pay, which is bad.
Look into getting a secured major credit card or a store card. Old Navy, GAP, Macys, etc.
