Help! I Need Mattress Buying Advice?
Hopefully there is a mattress salesperson or someone knowledgeable about mattresses who can help me. I need a new mattress and I've been reading reviews about Simmons, Serta and Sealy which are supposed to be the best, but many average sized people say those brands all sag after a few weeks and within 6 months have large indentations. I have $800 to spend, in Austin, TX and I want a queen sized mattress that won't have sagging and indentation problems in the 1st couple of years. I need recommendations on mattresses and/or specific advice on what to look for and ask the salesperson.
Also, I've read that it doesn't matter what brand I buy, as long as I get a mattress with the least amount of layers, a small number of large coils, and then buy a replaceable top (like a feather bed or memory foam cushion) for the mattress, my mattress won't have sagging/indentation problems and will remain comfortable longer, is that true?
Lastly, if all you have to say is "you get what you pay for" or "my ideal mattress may not be your ideal mattress" save it!

The more padding the less it will last. Ideally the thing to do is to purchase a spring mattress with 12 3/4 gauge coils and total height less than 9". This should be a very firm mattress that will not be too comfortable but will last a long time. Then, buy a latex mattress topper of around 2 or three inches. They run about $250 but will give the long term comfort you are looking for. The http://www.latexmattresscompany.com/ in Phoenix has these for cheap and ship all over the place fast. We got the 3" that they have on blowout special and had it within 10 days.

Just today, I made my dream bed and I'd love to share it with all of you. In this order: Bragada mattress, neiman marcus lunaluxe mattress pad, northern nights ( qvc) featherbed, fitted sheet, flat sheet, duvet, flat sheet- all tucked in. I have the Dr Mary Side sleeper pillow bar pillow- which I use even though I sleep on my stomach too. Great investment. Omg, can I tell you guys I can't wait to get into bed tonight. I tested it out this afternoon and I didn't want to move. I googled how to make a westin bed/ Hilton bed to learn how the pros do it and I'm really happy with my results. I first combined baking soda with lavender oil and sprinkled that on my mattress for a few hours, then vacuumed it thoroughly. Smells so good. Sweet dreams y'all!

Check out http://www.mattresshero.com,/ we bought a latex mattress from them and the sales person was very helpful and didn't try to get us to buy anything. Just recommended what they though would be best for us based on our height, weight and comfort level desired. We have been very happy for 2 years now on it.
