If it has a mechanical fan then the fan clutch is probably bad. If it is an electric fan and is working, as you say then look at the belt that drives the water pump for slippage. If that all checks out you may have a water pump that is going bad. If the blades on the impeller get worn down it just may not be capable of moving water at an idle.

Very well could be a defective thermostat in the engine not operating properly, or lose fan belt. If you are adding coolant there must be a leak since it is a sealed system

Since you're losing coolant, it sounds like the head gasket is gone. It's a good little car. Should be worth fixing. Good luck.

No it will NOT be insured. The dealer will have a 'Motor Trade Policy' which has blanket cover for any vehicle he drives in connection with his business. The car its self did not have insurance in the way YOU know it. The minute the dealer stepped out of the car it was uninsured so you need to get it off the public highway if it is on it.

Sounds like your thermostats stuck or not working. The thermostats on the engine, you might have to replace it. Take it to one of those quick lube oil changes and have them check it out. They may not even charge you.
