Life span of Nissan 2.4L engine?
I know, more of a poll, but wanted input from real Nissan Owners!
Looking for how long one of these CAN run, and when or if the timing chain and water pump need attention. I just got a 95 (pickup) with 175K. I have several friends with 2.4s well over 200K. So, answerers, whats your record!
Added:
This was a replacement for an 86 and 1/2 with 235,000 miles that was still going strong, but was totaled in an accident! the 86 I had since new and was a VG3I (V6). Until the accident, I was fairly sure the remainder of the truck would rust-out and fail long before the engine.
The "NEW" 95 appears to have been well cared for, runs strong, and is a 5-speed manual. I'm just curious as to what endurance other owners have had with this engine. I'm especially curious about the timing chain, as the V6 had a belt, which I had just changed for the 4th time. Is there a point where the chain fails, or tensioner needs service? or is this normally something that outlives the remainder of the engine?

my 2.4L engine of my 1989 nissan 240sx is still original and going strong @ ~219,000 miles...
it did have that timing chain guide recall, which was taken care of a long time ago
(guides were totally plastic; new guides have a metal backing to prevent the chain from cutting into the coolant passageways of the timing cover)
others in another car forum are pushing similar numbers

Well that is a different question. You do not know how the truck was run driven or serviced. 16 year old truck it might not be the motor you have to worry about. Automatic trans may need to be replaced first. Front suspension most likely needs drag link pitman idler arm's ball joints wheel bearings and other parts to stop the power steering leaks. I just hope you have purchased this truck right. Now have the truck checked over at the next Nissan Car Care Clinic. Or check it over at a Mechanic you trust.
