Entry level computer cert/education?
I was wondering what would be the best way to get your foot in the door in a tech help desk type job. As in, what type of certifications would be the best to focus on for general computer knowledge...and then work your way into more specific certifications. How do you recommend prepping for a test? Taking classes? Or checking out books from the local library? I was looking into the A+ cert for starters. Thanks in advance!

A+ is more of a hardware certification while tech help desk is software oriented

I don't know any of those that aren't a scam (you take the eduction with them and then you get your own job). Most of those kinds of jobs went overseas. If you want to do "computer type work" then you need to get that kind of education (at your community college) and then apply online for the different jobs offered. Unless a company (like a bank) knows you from your having worked there before in person, they will not know you well enough to hire you to "work on your own" for their company. If you are wanting to "work your own hours" you need to open your own business.
