Get a job, jobs give you health insurance. Don't get COBRA, COBRA sucks

You can either contact an insurance agent who represents several companies or call direct to one of the major insurance companies in that particular state where you are going to reside. If you are only visiting in the US you would get international health insurance before leaving home.

You get a job with a company that offers it as a benefit. Most of the time the company will pay most of the premium and you'll pay a little bit of it PRE-TAX out of your paycheck.
