I've heard it said that "If a Jew doesn't have an answer, at least he has a good story." I have an answer, I'm not sure it's the right answer, and I wish devoutly thta I could come up with a good story to go with it.

I believe that it means --- now there is a psychological word for this --- displacement comes to mind --- that what you think you want is not what you really need.

What's the song? They used it in "The Big Chill"?

You can't always get what you want.

    [or is it wah-unt?]

But if you try sometimes, you get what you need.

It is a measure of my non-connectedness that I was surprised to hear that it was The Rolling Stones who sang it.

Good luck on finding what you need.

  • Interesting question Ilouise.

I have never experienced this because most anything will hit the spot for me. It is like never having enough sex, money, happiness, etc...but in a gastronomical way.

I found a disorder called...Prader-Willi syndrome. You can read the link.

It may have something to do with the hypothalamus (lower part of your brain). This is the food and sex center. A friend of mine has a son who had to have brain surgery from a growth in his brain (gangliglioma). The doctors asked the parents if they would rather have him eat all the time or have sex all the time...no kidding. I guess where they were removing the growth it affected a certain aspect of the hypothalamus. He ended up having a stroke too. He was just graduating from High School.

Here is another source that talks about certain foods helping one feel satiated longer.

I suggest you eat more Challah rolls, Jesus Waffers, Halah meat, etc. This is the Religion & Spirituality section, you know.

Nothing will ever satisfy anyone for a definite taste.

It means you have a craving for new tastes and experiences.

    Start experimenting with new foods.
