why do i cry so much?

I'm 18 years old and this has been going on since i was 13. i will be having a good day and then someone can say something that i don't like and i will get aggravated and start to cry. today i was making boiled eggs and i cracked one and they weren't done all the way so i felt like i screwed them all up so i put them down, went to my room, and started to cry. i have gone to my doctor a few times and she told me that its because of stress but i could have nothing on my mind and then just brake down in tears. i had to quit my job because i was having anxiety attacks and having to go in the back room so nobody would see me cry. when someone asked if i was okay i just cried more. my doctor refuses to give me anything because she feels that i will abuse the medication because of the town i live in and people i hang around with. it has happened so many times in school that i cant count. i will be doing fine all day and then i will struggle with a problem and start to tear up i try to stop but i cant control it. i dont know what to do anymore can someone please help.

Maybe not being a softcock or drama queen will help

Well you obviously don't handle stress well.

You don't need medication for it. If you asked for medication that's probably exactly why you were refused whereas you might have been offerered some. She should refer you to talking therapy though, and maybe you're depressed so you should get a new doctor and write on here what you plan to tell this doctor and people will advise you how to word it or something but maybe she's just a bad doctor. I don't think it has anything to do with your town. You can only abuse certain medications and that's because of the type of medication they are and at your age they shouldn't give you those if you mean you want benzos to calm down. It's not a choice to abuse them it just tends to happen that people get addicted and/or misuse them so they need to be careful prescibing them.

You need to learn why you have such low self esteem that whenever someone says something small to you, you are reacting in this way as if they hate you or something? Same for the eggs. You need someone to help you get perspective because you are aware that you just messed up an egg but inside your head it obviously just signaled you are a failure. So if you are constantly being reminded/told you are a failure then anyone would break down under that sort of pressure, especially with no let up (since people make stupid mistakes like that every day).

Talking therapy is meant to rewire your thoughts so you can see the cracked egg for what it is. I think there's a high chance you can fix this because you are obviously pretty aware of what's going on in your head already. I think if you cry when someone asks if you're okay maybe you have no support and when people show concern for you this gets you upset. I guess it depends why you cry. Maybe you are embarrassed when they ask you if you're okay? Alternatively it might just be plain stress and you just happen to be letting it out at the wrong time when you get overwhelmed, so maybe you just need some ways to relieve stress. Painting blah blah. Maybe something you can't mess up though lol because if I painted, personally I would get annoyed that my painting wasn't very good lol.

Medication won't unless it's a hormonal thing. If you're on any medication already, particularly birth control then read your pack and see if it might be a side effect and try coming off it or switching so you can rule that cause out. If you went on birth control around the time your periods started this would make perfect sense and be a terrible waste and it's happened to plenty of women. Good luck then

think more positively, watch a funny video on youtube that you can relate some of your life situations to and laugh about it. trust me you are just concentrating on the negatives.. i advice you to look up tabs24x7 on youtube. she is a 17 year old girl who is constantly appreciating life (she is beautiful too) after watching her videos alot of people tend to try and act more uplifting and careless, i'd say you will too. don't worry about your problem.
